There have been a number of new consumer data privacy laws that have been passed or proposed here in the United States in the last several months, including a recently proposed federal law that is stricter than any existing law. It appears that the European Union’s passage of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is the start of a movement toward protecting consumer data and giving consumer’s input as to how (or if) their information is used, or accessed by third parties.
The purpose of this Client Memo – Update is to make sure that DomainSkate users are aware of the changing landscape and are starting to prepare themselves for new laws that could greatly impact their business and create new obligations and compliance duties.
